The recipe for momos is simple, and the stuffing is easy to prepare in any kitchen without many complicated ingredients. Yet some tips and suggestions to master this recipe are,

(1) Kneading Dough—The dough is prepared using lukewarm water. This helps it roll thin easily and is also pliable. Also, rest the dough for a minimum of 30 minutes after kneading to get sufficient air.

(2) Stuffing Variation—The vegetable added to this recipe is open-ended, but must be finely chopped. To make them lip-smacking, they must be sautéed lightly with a hint of soy sauce and garam masala.

(3) Shaping—There are many different ways to shape the dumplings. Each shape can take some time to master, but stick to one that is comfortable and easy to make.

(4) CookingSteam the momos over boiling water, starting the timer once the water starts boiling. In addition, some oil should be applied to the plate before the momos are placed for steaming.

(5) Serving—These steamed dumplings taste great when served with spicy garlic chutney or schezwan sauce. If spicy condiments are not an option, you may serve them with tomato sauce.

■ Ingredient required are mentioned below:

☆ For dough :

• 2 cup maida
• ½ tsp salt
• 1 tbsp oil
• warm water

☆ For stuffing:

• 2 tbsp oil
• 5 cloves garlic, finely chopped
• 1 inch ginger, grated
• 2 chilli, finely chopped
• 2 tbsp spring onion, chopped
• ½ onion, finely chopped
• 2 cup cabbage, finely chopped
• 1 carrot, finely chopped
• ½ tsp salt
• ½ tsp pepper powder
• 2 tbsp spring onion, chopped


■ Instructions of Veg Momos | Momos Ki Recipe – Street Style with step-by-step photos:

 
(1) Firstly, take 2 cups maida, ½ tsp salt, and 1 tbsp oil in a bowl. Mix well.


(2) Add warm water and start to knead the dough. Knead the dough to make it smooth and soft. Cover and keep aside.


(3) To prepare the stuffing, heat 2 tablespoons oil. Add 5 cloves garlic, 1 inch ginger, 2 chillies, and 2 tbsp spring onion. Saute well.


(4) Also, add ½ onion and sauté slightly.


(5) Further add 2 cups of cabbage, 1 carrot, ½ tsp salt and ½ tsp pepper powder.


(6) Stir fry till the vegetables making sure the vegetables are cooked.


(7) Add 2 tbsp spring onion and mix well.
Veg Momos Stuffing is ready, keep aside.


(8) Knead the dough again and pinch a ball-sized dough.


(9) Roll and flatten as thin as possible. Cut into a round shape.


(10) Now place a tbsp of stuffing in the centre.


(11) Start pleating the edges slowly and gather everything.


(12) Press in the middle and seal the momos, forming a bundle.


(13) Heat a steamer and arrange the momos in the tray without touching each other.


(14) Furthermore, steam momos for 10-12 minutes or till a shiny sheen appears over them.


(15) Finally, Veg Momos Recipe is ready to enjoy with momos chutney.

■ Notes :

• Firstly, make sure to knead the dough well, or else the momos will be hard.

• Also, add vegetables of your choice to the momos stuffing.

• Additionally, steam the momos just before serving. Cooled momos will not taste great.

• Finally, Veg Momos Recipe tastes great when prepared with spicy sauce and more filling.
